About This Property
This historic boutique hotel is set in the heart of central New Westminster, British Columbia and features an on-site restaurant and liquor store along with easy access to popular attractions. Originally built in 1892, the Met Hotel combines old-world charm with today's modern conveniences, including free wireless internet access and in-room flat-screen TVs. Guests at the hotel can also enjoy free morning coffee service as well as completely nonsmoking accommodations. The Met offers guests a 10% discount for the Howe Sound Taphouse & Kitchen - New West, the hotel's on-site dining. It features a sports-bar atmosphere and a variety of menu choices. The sky train stop was right out the window and kept us awake most the night. People fighting and talking in skytrain platform. Our window had an air conditioner in it so no sound seal and we heard everything. If you stay make sure you ask for a room in front!

In revitalized historic center of New Westminster, next to Columbia Skytrain station and waterfront promenades. Hotel appeared to be somewhat low-budget renovated.
Negatives:
Our room was on the side of the Skytrain station. It was very noisy from Skytrain and people during operating hours (esp. late night and early morning). Hotel even provides earplugs (didn't discover until 2nd night). Bathroom caulkings was moldy/stained.

I was woken up fairly early by housecleaning staff having a loud conversation. They were in separate rooms and YELLING back and forth. I had to fully wake up and go into the hall to ask them to stop yelling as theyd woken me up.
I get it it was past checkout time and no guests were sleeping anymore, but this was at 8am! It toke a bit of time to fall back to sleep and I was very annoyed. Not good.

Positives:
The rooms were satisfactory and clean and the bed was comfortable. The little sitting area on our floor was cute. This was a great location for just one night if you have to go over to Vancouver for a medical appointment or something like that in New Westminster. Very economical which is great considering it's already expensive and a pain to have to travel to Vancouver for medical reasons. The building also has an interesting history, and the attached pub has some great pizza for a fast and easy dinner option!
Negatives:
I wouldn't have stayed more than one night here. The trains are loud and disruptive to sleep. I know there isn't anything that can be done about it and earplugs are provided, but I couldn't do more than one night.
