The location is quite good. It's a nice quiet location very close to La Jolla attractions. It's not right on the beach, but just a couple of blocks away. It's one block away from Prospect, which is the main street. The neighborhood is very easy to navigate. The front desk staff is super and very helpful!
Negatives:
The hotel does not have great amenities and is dated. The room itself was comfortable and large. However, there aren't a lot more extras in the hotel itself. E.g., the gym is very basic and is not kept up (no towels, no water, minimal equipment, garbage not taken out). Also, there is a restaurant in the hotel (which is very good and tasty). The smell from it goes all the way to the top floors and you can hear them doing food prep (banging out the veal cutlets). The hotel staff asked the restaurant to be quiet, and they were after the request, but the request had to be repeated every night. Breakfast was pretty basis - low-end hotel breakfast
