Hilton Garden Inn Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport

Negatives: When we arrived the front was under construction w no sign to tell us where to check in. I had to call to find out where to go inside. When we got to our room, after driving 11 hours bc of traffic, we pulled back the comforter and there was hair and stains on the sheets and makeup on the pillows. I went to the desk and asked for new sheets and explained the reason why. The person at the desk responded by saying,"Oh no, sorry. I'll have some brought up to you soon. We went to eat and came back 2 hours later, nothing had been done. I went back downstairs and said please just give me sheets, I'll change them myself. I am exhausted and would like to lay down. He said ok, I'll get them for you. He returned with the sheets and I changed them myself. The electric shade on the window would not move when we pushed the button to put it down at first, finally 5 min later it was down far enough to keep the light out but went back up in the middle of the night by itself. The air conditioner sounded like a motorcycle when it was running. We were too tired to go back down to the desk to let them know. For the cost of the room we expect better, yes we could have asked for another room but he could have also offered another room. There was another man that worked there that looked very stressed out taking care of others that looked to be irritated also. When I went to check out the next morning. The manager was the one who checked me out. She asked if I was checking out and if I needed a receipt. I could go on and on but I am sure you get the jist of this. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Negatives: I was charged for both the room and the preauthorization. When I called the facility, I was told it wasn't their problem and I needed to dispute the charge with my bank. Doing so meant I had to cancel my debit card, which is a problem when you're traveling.
