La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Plantation At Southwest 6th Street

Negatives: I was not pleased with this stay at La Quinta and will likely never stay again. We were booked into a king suite and upon arrival they told us they were overbooked and put us in a king room. The room itself smelled like an old dirty mop. The toilet paper holder was off the wall in the bathroom and when we woke up in the morning, the carpet by the AC was soaked. The front desk told us that we would be able to switch to the room we booked in the morning as they had people checking out. However, when I went to the front desk in the morning and told them about the issues with the king room and requested to be moved to the suite that was originally booked they said to check back in around noonish to see if it could be done. In the interim, they were going to check the AC. So I went out to pick up a few things thinking that when we returned we would be able to move our belongings to the original room we had booked. This was not the case. They had told us once again that they were overbooked and were unable to give us the suite we had booked. I suggested that since we had paid already for the stay, they could put somebody else that had not checked in yet in a different room and let us have the room booked. Again a no go. So, knowing that the desk staff were not at fault, I requested to be moved to another room given the carpet was soaked in the current room. They hesitated off and on and finally moved us to another king room. This room also smelled like a dirty mop by the smell dissipated once we kept the door open to the hallway for a period. The bed was clean and the carpet dry. The next morning upon waking I went to have a shower and pulled the curtain over and a dirty dried facecloth fell down from the curtain rod…made me wonder if the shower/tub had been cleaned. So I rinsed the tub and had my shower to get out and have the hairdryer not work. Very, very disappointing stay and will never again stay at La Quinta Plantation.

Negatives: I don't particularly like that I have to request for my room to be cleaned but I do understand that this was implemented during the pandemic (Covid 19) and has continued. At least it gives you more privacy and the option to not be disturbed by housekeeping.

Negatives: The lift was a bit noisy, but liveable with.

Negatives: Sheets weren’t fully clean with stains on one of the beds. Smoke alarm kept going off on my first day and more than half of the outlets did not work.
