Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn

Negatives: The Jacuzzi wasn't available, so I requested a room upgrade to a Jacuzzi suite, but none available. Requested our room be away from the stairwell, but that's exactly what we got. Apparently, the hotel was at capacity. Specifically asked during check in, if the buffet breakfast was included. Was informed it was, but only on Sunday, which was the morning we would be there. When I double checked at front desk the following morning, learned full buffet breakfast was not included, but a mini version, which was fine, just not what we'd experienced in our prior stays. Did try calling the front desk, restaurant and lounge from the phone in our room, but couldn't reach anyone from it. Noticed the area we socialized in prior years, by pool, is now rentable space. Learned Jacuzzi will not be featured or operable going forward, per my discussion with front desk personnel at check out. Overall experience with hotel was disappointing.

Negatives: During our stay at the hotel, we encountered a few issues that detracted from our overall experience. The hotel was undergoing renovations, which were posted, but we noticed that there were ceiling panels in the hallways that had fallen through and needed repair. Additionally, there was a trash can near the entrance of our room that had concrete mix dumped in front of it, which we accidentally stepped in due to the rain and poor visibility. In our room, there was a chip in the wood of the cabinet that held the mini-fridge and microwave, which caused the door not to close properly. The shower also posed a problem with a low lip, causing water to splash onto the bathroom floor, and no safety handles were present in the bathroom, which presented a potential hazard. One suggestion we have for improvement would be to replace the pool table and cues in the atrium. The pool table was uneven, causing the balls to get stuck and jam, and the pool cues were worn down, with no chalk available. It also cost four quarters to play one game, and the cue ball got stuck halfway through, which required us to use one of the colored balls instead. We also couldn't use the hot tub, which was disappointing. During our stay, we had a complimentary continental breakfast from the restaurant on-site. Although there were many food options, we found the food to be mostly average and not very tasty. The orange juice was also a bit bitter. We only went there once, and we decided to skip it for the rest of our trip. They could improve the breakfast by providing fresher bakery goods and higher quality foods. We noticed that the maid/make-up service could use some improvement. When we requested the service, they only picked up the dirty towels and emptied the trash bins; they didn't make the bed, change the sheets, or refill the coffee station. We wish they could have done more, but they were respectful of our personal belongings and didn't move or touch them.

Negatives: I'm a disabled person with mobilty problems. I made this clear when I booked the room. However, the room assignment I was given was completely unexceptable due to it's location. I was not offered another room. Also, Davenport Iowa rolls up it's sidwalks at about 10 PM. We couldn't find any open restaurants other than gas stations. The next day we had to drive to Princeton IL before we came to a good sit down with wait service restaurant. The Big Apple Family Restaurant. Great food and service. Everything else in between was nothing but fast food and gas stations.

Negatives: Thought price was a bit high but it's a high price world

Negatives: We arrived late in the evening after almost 10 hours on the road so were in no mood to haggle over anything at the desk - like $50 pet fee? Ridiculous - the room was so filthy they should have paid us to stay there. Years old spider webs above the built-in closet, layers of dust on periphery items. No "Do not disturb" sign in the room - I went to breakfast, wife was in the shower when 6'2" male housekeeper walked in and propped door open while she was still in the shower - most housekeepers would HEAR the shower running and vacate - not this guy. Wow. On a positive note; they are obviously renovating, the facility is a bit of a diamond in the rough - our room had new flooring and some improvements, the pool room is pretty cool - I'm sure in it's day, this was an amazing hotel but needs a lot of work - the location can't be helped and appears to have gone industrial in the last couple decades. Too bad.

Negatives: Breakfast ok /not amazing as written by other travellers (USA standard.. do not expect more) Bed not comfy at all and bunging Noise isolation inexistante - hotel is too old: in the room we were able to hear traffic from the highway

Negatives: Shower leeks on to floor and you have to use your towels to soak it up. Towel bar was broken. Bed was uncomfortable. Felt worn out.

Negatives: In the middle of remodeling . It was awful!! Switched rooms 3 times before just giving up and asking for a refund !! The manager offered half of my first night stay . It was a nightmare experience. I left with no compensation whatsoever ever ! I do not recommend this hotel at all . Cold pool and really bad smell throughout the hotel .

Negatives: Room was cold. Heater would not get above 68 degrees! Didn't get a receipt because printer didn't work. Room charge was more than quoted by Booking.com.

Negatives: My room had missing ceiling tiles and the sheets smelled like they could have been washed again.
