I like the Microtel chain, as they are usually a great value and tend to be clean. I am allergic to pet dander and they have rooms where they don't allow pets. That is a big consideration for me, especially nowadays where people bring their pets EVERYWHERE.
Negatives:
Unfortunately, the pet-free rooms always seem to be on the second floor and Microtel doesn't have elevators. Not usually a big deal, as I don't mind carrying luggage upstairs in order to get a clean, pet-free room. Also, this particular Microtel had a very meager breakfast offering.

Smaller type rooms. Worn upholstery, not in keping with the paint update. No coffee maker in room. Small, small breakfast area. Only three tables. We were fine, it was a Monday. If hotel was full, breakfast would be a scene.

Very nice front desk staff, upgraded my room and gave handicapped accessible room to travel companions. Comfortable beds and clean rooms, that is all I need.
Negatives:
There was nothing to complain about.
Will stay again the next time we get to Gallup.

The property needs updating which appears to be in progress. But my room even though not updated was super clean and the bed was comfortable so it was a great value. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Also, I logged in for work and the wifi was fast.
