Nothing. The woman at the front desk when we checked in and checked out was nice. The General Manager doesn't really care about the customers. It was my fault for staying at the overpriced fleabag motel ($337 for the night)
Negatives:
That was the worst fleabag motel I ever stayed in.. The bathtub was broken and disgusting (I would not allow my daughter to take a bath there). The refrigerator was gross and overrun by frost in the freezer. I hit my leg numerous times on the appendages sticking out from under the bed (the frame was not the correct size for the mattress). The ice machine was broken. No coffee pot in the room. The lobby and hall on the 2nd floor were full of stuff, very dirty, and the carpets were gross... Overall, the worst experience I have had in a Motel in my 50 plus years of traveling (I have spent a couple nights in $40 fleabag motels that were better than this place)... I always thought Wingate by Wyndham was a quality Motel Chain :-( Guess not...

Hotel is in renovation time so my rooms 304 and 306 are dusty with unfinish job inside and outside the room. Construction material are all over outside my room and near elevator entrance. There is insect (cockroaches) in the restroom. Refrigerator is not working and no repair workers around to help. No tissue paper and clean towers in rest room. In the morning around 7am, no breakfast served yet.

If you are trying to visit Claytor Lake State Park, you will be very close. We came for VTec graduation. Blacksburg is about 30-35 min away

It is very difficult to give feedback bc the hotel is in clear transition and is being remodeling. I think however that it is being remodelled VERY slowly. So, I appreciate the effort but, as of May 2024, it looks run down. The rug in the hallways is awfully stained. The rooms are very modest, sheets are stained (not dirty, but stained). There was not a single icemaker working in the hotel. There was a water fountain but no other water source. Walls look in need of fixing and paint. We had mold in the bathroom. The sofabed is stained and uncomfortable.
So, you are staying in a place that is being fixed. This is should be a place where room are not above $50 or less until things are updated.

The hotel was under renovation, so all amenities could not be used. The pool was not available due to PH levels. The flooring in the hotel was dirty and the hotel smelled like mildew upon entrance. Also, the hotel room bathroom had mildew in the shower and did not look clean in appearance. There was no ice machine available and some of the hotel rooms doors were left ajar. I'm not sure if there were any occupancies at that time. I did feel unsafe.

The location was about all I liked.
Negatives:
The breakfast did not have any proteins in it. It was waffles, breads, and Danishes. There wasn't any ice machines working on the premises. Housekeeping never made my bed. When I asked about it, I was told if I had any personal items on the bed, they would not touch it. So I moved my personal pillow off of it and the bed was still not made. The first night I asked for extra towels. Each day, they would pick up the used towels but never replaced them. I am glad I had requested extra. The sink was never wiped down and the drain did not work well. Even though I tried to wipe down the sink it was still dirty. There was only the one roll of toilet paper in my room and it was never refilled. The freezer did not have door so I was not able to keep frozen items frozen. There was not a clock in the room. There was no tv guide in the room. If I could have left and gone to another hotel, I would have. I had prepaid for this hotel so I was not going to move.
