However if you are a light sleeper like l am, try to get a room at the top floor otherwise you will hear the people above you stomping around the whole night. Luckily I had earplugs but it was quite unpleasant for the price it has...

Great location approximately half way between the aquarium and fisherman's wharf. Room was very large offering plenty of space for us to unpack for the four day visit. Room was very clean and always kept this way by housekeeping throughout the trip. Wine and cheese in the lobby each afternoon was a nice additional touch.
Negatives:
Breakfast was included and it was perfectly adequate but limited in options so if you are staying for several days don't expect too much variety.

The location was great. Rooms were old fashioned, however large and comfortable. Loved the little courtyard and active fireplace (couldn't see carbon monoxide alarm though).
Wine and cheese at 5pm was thoughtful and excellent
Breakfast omelette was superb and lots of items on offer - very generous.

We felt that the dogs got a better reception from the evening check in. Rest of staff were great - helpful and interested
The water in the hotel tastes dreadful and smells of sulphur. Hotel definitely need to provide drinking water in the rooms and to filter all drinking water for tea coffee etc.

It’s proximity to the beach, bars and restaurants and the breakfast was fabulous

We stayed on a cold day! There were no duvets on the bed, just one thin blanket! We asked for more and were given 3 (between 2 of us). The fire in the room was for decorative purposes only and gave off no heat, so we were cold all night!

Amazing breakfast, wine and cheese hour was great, and the staff was fabulous.
Negatives:
We felt pushed out on the day of check out by the cleaning staff. It was 830 am on the day we were to check out and a staff member keep asking if we were leaving and we said no many times. On our way to collect our last items from the room we found that our room had already been striped and the fridge cleaned out.
We’ve never had this happen before and have stayed at the hotel many times in the past. We were very caught off guard.

Check-in, house keeping services for extra pillows and for fixing the fireplace, great breakfast, and having a happy hour. Also, having parking underground and proximity to the aquarium and Cannery row.
Negatives:
The 2nd night we had some guests above us that were very noisy. Sounded like they had a child or two that was jumping off the bed and landing loudly on the floor. This was going on around 11:30pm, so was very disturbing as it lasted for 15-20 minutes.
