Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn

Negatives: I'm a disabled person with mobilty problems. I made this clear when I booked the room. However, the room assignment I was given was completely unexceptable due to it's location. I was not offered another room. Also, Davenport Iowa rolls up it's sidwalks at about 10 PM. We couldn't find any open restaurants other than gas stations. The next day we had to drive to Princeton IL before we came to a good sit down with wait service restaurant. The Big Apple Family Restaurant. Great food and service. Everything else in between was nothing but fast food and gas stations.

Negatives: Thought price was a bit high but it's a high price world

Negatives: We arrived late in the evening after almost 10 hours on the road so were in no mood to haggle over anything at the desk - like $50 pet fee? Ridiculous - the room was so filthy they should have paid us to stay there. Years old spider webs above the built-in closet, layers of dust on periphery items. No "Do not disturb" sign in the room - I went to breakfast, wife was in the shower when 6'2" male housekeeper walked in and propped door open while she was still in the shower - most housekeepers would HEAR the shower running and vacate - not this guy. Wow. On a positive note; they are obviously renovating, the facility is a bit of a diamond in the rough - our room had new flooring and some improvements, the pool room is pretty cool - I'm sure in it's day, this was an amazing hotel but needs a lot of work - the location can't be helped and appears to have gone industrial in the last couple decades. Too bad.

Negatives: Breakfast ok /not amazing as written by other travellers (USA standard.. do not expect more) Bed not comfy at all and bunging Noise isolation inexistante - hotel is too old: in the room we were able to hear traffic from the highway

Negatives: Shower leeks on to floor and you have to use your towels to soak it up. Towel bar was broken. Bed was uncomfortable. Felt worn out.

Negatives: In the middle of remodeling . It was awful!! Switched rooms 3 times before just giving up and asking for a refund !! The manager offered half of my first night stay . It was a nightmare experience. I left with no compensation whatsoever ever ! I do not recommend this hotel at all . Cold pool and really bad smell throughout the hotel .

Negatives: Room was cold. Heater would not get above 68 degrees! Didn't get a receipt because printer didn't work. Room charge was more than quoted by Booking.com.

Negatives: Check in was extremely slow. Bad smell in room like trying to cover cigarette smoke with perfume or air fresheners. Ventilation fan was loud.

Negatives: The free wifi is horrible. And the air conditioning quit working. They are doing construction tho, so hopefully this will be fixed.

Negatives: Pool had an awful smell to it, not chlorine.. more like musty/mildew. It was so strong we got out and took showers. There was a crowd in the room next to us, and despite asking them to stop nicely as well as going to the front desk for assistance... they continued to yell and even bang on our hotel room door and run away. Eventually we asked for a new room. New room had a broken thermostat so it was 78 degrees the entire night. The people from the room before continued to run around and knock on doors until about 1 am. Front desk was no help to this and the room was so uncomfortable we couldnt sleep. Neither did our children, unfortunately. Mold was also on the ceiling in the bathroom in both rooms we were in
