Located in the former George Washington Hotel, once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives, the Freehand New York features five restaurant and bars, a custom art partnership with Bard College, and design by Roman and Williams. I liked the size of the room, the complimentary water and the bathrobes. Everything was fresh and clean and the bed was comfortable. overall the location was perfect for my visit.

it was a bit dark in the room as the window was partially blocked by the opposite wall. There were some school classes in the hotel so there was quite a bit of party going on but my earplugs solved that. Staff could have been friendlier.

It was insanely loud. We were on the 16th floor and the rooftop bar kept us up till one in the morning pumping base. People were partying up and down the hallways making tons of noise. Six people in the room next to us partying till six in the morning multiple nights. Was evacuated one of our nights for over an hour until nearly one in the morning because they couldn’t figure out how to get the fire alarm off. Or the sprinklers. We were all just waiting outside wondering if our stuff was getting soaked while my kids were slightly terrified the hotel was on fire. Would’ve been nice to receive a note from the hotel. Apologizing for the inconvenience. But never heard a thing. In fact, I didn’t even know there was free Wi-Fi at the hotel… Was there? There was no materials about anything in the room.
