Positives:
Beautiful charming design and great location for where I needed to be.
Negatives:
Elevators are a little slow, so the lobby was sometimes crowded. Didn’t have coffee in the room and the coffee shop attached had very long lines.

Loved it. Will stay there...
Negatives:
The price I paid and the garret I found myself sleeping in–some 5 x 8 ft space–do not correlate. I was shocked. I stay in the city once in a while and book rooms in a similar price range in other hotels which are far larger, nicer and more up to date and which do not look like state-park-style coffins on the inside.

Positives:
Freehand is full of character, decor in reception areas and adjacent cafe is beautiful, and the bedrooms are adorned with unique artwork. Reception staff and porters are super friendly and there's a great vibe about the place. There's a wonderful rooftop bar attached to the hotel, small gym on lower ground floor, a few retro games, which my children enjoyed, and a nice warm shower and toiletries to enjoy after a day's sightseeing. Great location and easy to travel uptown and downtown. Complementary water at reception was a nice touch.
Negatives:
Socket by the lower bunk bed didn't work, wall lamp was loose; very limited headroom above the top bunk. Quad room was small for 4 people, with a serious lack of luggage storage space, but we made it work by storing cases / clothes under bed.
