Very good
Positives:
There is nothing good to say about the hotel, the rooms are tired and worn, the restaurant for breakfast was dreadful, the location is “crime central” the location is no fault of the hotel but if your staying in Union Square at any hotel you are just a few metres from Tenderloin, if you don’t know this area it’s city centre drug crime and homeless area a total disgrace to America.
Negatives:
The Union square and surrounding hotel areas are the worst areas of any city in the western world. You would only want to walk the streets around Union square with a guide.

The once colourful city is...
Positives:
The location was great and the room was clean. The hotel looks nice and has a good atmosphere.
The water station at every floor was useful during our stay. The urban fee was included in the booking.com rate.
Negatives:
The room was a bit noisy (from the external air conditioning unit) and the bathroom was very small.
We would have appreciated a bit of information about what to see in San Francisco after the arrival.
Overall I was expecting more for the price.
The location was great, but we didn’t feel comofrtable walking around after the sunset. This is not the hotels fault though.

Good location, room a bit...
Positives:
Has a lot of character. Very nice decor specially in the rooms. They photograph very well. Staff is very nice and pleasant. My room was very spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. Loved the black out shades!
Negatives:
Weird smells sometimes when entering elevator and even the room the very first time. Like an old smell or something. Bathroom was small and somewhat dated. The way the tub has a half glass and a hole in the middle of the glass wall is weird. Maybe it’s from the 70s or something. Definitely looks like a glory hole and all it does is let water out down to the floor and create a puddle while showering which I had to clean up. Also, shower had weird random hairs from previous guests I guess even after they did room service. The new towels had hair intertwined the cotton loops.
