Positives:
Close to attractions. Down pillows were nice. The towels and linens were clean. Polite housekeeper on our floor. The door men (also black/with foreign accents) were on point doing their jobs very well, attentive and expressed gratitude each time for the cash tips.
Negatives:
Old, damaged lamps etc, very uncomfortable cheap bed/like plywood almost, old curtains/furniture, worn down/no lock and broken/ cracked off pieces of doors in restaurant bathroom that were never fixed during our stay. We have never stayed in a hotel where the front desk staff offered so little information. Seemingly Polite but very few words were offered except talking amongst themselves. We have never seen absolutely no tourist information or maps in the hotel room. No phone to call the front desk to ask a question. No menu for the restaurant/in-house. Janitor staff constantly bringing huge garbage dumpsters onto the customer elevators.
Seems and feels like there may be racism against white customers as we noticed other black customers treated differently multiple times. Other hotel customers approached us outside, after overhearing our zero help from the front desk women. The other guests offered us some tips and directions they had figured out themselves, noting they had the same experience with black staff at this location. The Potbelly sandwich shop next door was the same with racism from black staff to white customers (not the customers that were black, Hispanic or had foreign accents who were helped from behind us in line). One black staff exited the shop and spit toward us as we sat outside. Yes, we had tipped for the to-go sandwiches. Please note that nowhere else in DC did we encounter this racism toward whites. Even the black police officer woman in the metro was exceptionally helpful, even though it really was not even her job! Almost all service workers were black or Hispanic and seemed doing their jobs in the city. The fee of almost $400 per night was outrageously expensive. We never complained about anything, fearing backlash.

Positives:
Pretty standard hotel, spacious rooms and proximity to the metro are good
Negatives:
2 issues - they “save water” (I had to ask for a change of the shower head as it was impossible to take a shower ) a bit better after the change. Also the AC is pretty noisy. I was lucky coming at the beginning of March, so I was able to sleep with AC turned off

Bad
Positives:
Location is OK. It is not far from the Union Station, you can walk in 15-20 mins. There are few coffeeshops and places to eat not far.
Negatives:
The room was not very clean, stains on the walls. It said that there were two complimentary water bottles but one was missing. Breakfast was included but in the morning a staff member tried to charge us 87 USD.

Staff is welcoming, location is...
Positives:
The location is good.
Negatives:
The water pressure in my shower dropped tremendously when switching over to hot water. I also was not a fan of the 100$ in incidental fees. The price didn’t bother me it was the lack of communication on both this website and the hotel. I don’t mind paying an incidental fee, what I don’t like is not being told ahead of time about it. Had I not had the money to cover the fee I would’ve been out 316.00$ and a room for the weekend. During a trip that was last minute and urgent. Moving forward make sure people know about the fee.
