I have been staying at Kimpton hotels for years. This one was the worst. The restaurant is NOT really affiliated with the hotel so you can forget getting descent room service or none at all if the restaurant is booked out for a private event. The whole place looks quite shoddy and was really a disappointment in every way.

Positives:
The building is the sister to the Smithsonian Museum of Art, and it was once referred to as “perfectly designed’. It was almost burned down in the war of 1812, and it is rumoured to be haunted by a civil war widow. Recently, the public has renovated the exterior while the hotel chain has been responsible for the interior. Regardless, it’s a unique, boutique stay that stands out from the usual hotel.

very expensive for the room, the parking, and the FOOD. $13 for a small side of mashed potatoes and another $13 for 5 Brussels sprouts. wine prices too high for the size of pours. missing half a curtain in the room, mildew in the bathtub. one wine glass and one robe in the room.
