Staff friendly and did well with what they had to work with (responsibility with no authority). Breakfast was nice for self-serve. Room clean and well appointed, but wish there was something more than a desk chair to sit in.
Negatives:
The smoke alarm went off in our room at 6am for no apparent reason. Had to call the front desk to report it. She couldn't find the 'house man' to try to solve the problem and she couldn't leave the desk (there are apparently only two staff people in the entire hotel). The alarm is blaring this whole time and for hours later. She said she wasn't allowed to call the alarm company because that would cost money and she wasn't authorized to do so. We had to suggest moving rooms, which she could do. No help moving our things, brought a luggage trolley up ourselves to move our things. Manager waived the parking fee, whoop.

The location was good. One block from the beach.

There is no cooktop in the room. Only a microwave. There was no table or chairs or space to sit to eat food or drink coffee and or tea. Sitting on the bed is not ideal for eating. Since it is advertised as a residence.
The senior staff person at the front desk was not very pleasant. The new front desk lady who was training was very nice.
Getting towels from the beach seemed more of an effort than it was worth with a written caution that you would be charged $50 if you lost the towel card!! The towels were too small for beach use.
The sofa bed was really uncomfortable , but they did switch our room so we could have two beds.
