Positives:
The Surferjack was a great hotel with a boutique feel. It's smaller and therefore more personal than some of the massive hotels in the area. I stayed here for 11 nights and the staff were friendly, the pool was a lovely spot to chill out and the hotel just had a great vibe. The rooms were nice and live music in the evenings added great atmosphere. There were lots of restaurants, bars and shops within a 5 min walk. Overall the hotel was great value.
Negatives:
It was a little annoying that the pool closes for an hour each afternoon to set up for dinner. This happens around 5 PM and it re-opens for adult only swim after. Unfortunately, this occasionally coincided with us returning from our daily activities and the pool was closed or closing when what we really wanted was a swim and a drink by the pool before getting ready to go out for the evening.

Stayed 4 nights. Easy hotel....
Positives:
This small boutique hotel was a pleasant surprise for our stay in Oahu. This hotel was truly an excellent value. They host weekly and nightly events, the staff are more than welcoming and accommodating, and it is extremely well located within Waikiki. Any time we left the hotel, it was only a 10 minute walk to the beach and shopping. We had plans for dinner in the area but opted to stay at the hotel for the live music and stellar happy hour. The rooms were not over the top but met all of our needs and we even received a surprise upgrade for our group - so we were more than happy with our stay. Service came daily and our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable upon arrival. 10/10 would recommend.
Negatives:
It is a slightly older hotel (but that is the whole point of a vintage place)! Otherwise, we were very happy with our stay.

The Surfjack was perfect for our trip! We wanted to explore the island, hike, swim, snorkel, relax, and eat great food. The Surfjack helped us do all of that. $10 parking, towels and beach chairs to use, a nice pool to come back and relax in, a clean, comfy, and stylish room. Super kind and helpful staff.

I just wanted to express our family’s disappointment with our recent stay at your property. This was our family's first real vacation with a toddler and was excited to stay at your cute boutique property.
Upon arrival, we were told our room was not going to be available since there were physical damages incurred from a previous guest. We were told we would be staying in 2 separated rooms (I booked a shared 2 bedroom suite so my parents could help us watch our little one). The following day we were moved into another 2 bedroom suite that was available, but unfortunately the a/c unit was not working and asked if we could moved to a room that had proper a/c. The sweet young lady offered us
a new room that wouldn’t be available until a few days later, we accepted and again unpacked and repacked our luggage for the move.
If this was just a stay with my wife and I, this isn’t a big deal, but traveling with a large group and a toddler made things 10x more difficult to keep relocating rooms. In the end, the sweet young lady offered us a $100 food credit for our inconvenience, however, when checking out, the staff at that time did not find any credits and we had to dispute those charges. Overall, it was just a stressful experience and it put a sour memory of your property.

Honestly, the only really good thing about this hotel was the staff. It was also a decent location.
Negatives:
We rented a 2 bedroom suite which only had 1 bathroom (that’s on me for not checking). There were a number of issues that would prevent me from staying here again.
1. The bathroom was very small, the door opened into the bathroom so it was impossible to leave it open while in it, and it would get very hot.
-The air conditioner never fully cooled the room
-There were no drawers in the bedrooms. The only drawers were in a chest under the TV in the living room area
-There was only 1 closet for a 2 bedroom suite and it was located in the hall between 1 of the bedrooms and the bathroom. The closet and bedroom doors were constantly getting stuck.
-The mattresses and most of the pillows were rock hard
