The complimentary Breakfast was well done, the location was wonderful with a great walkable neighborhood with many restaurants, coffee houses, and luxury/ specialty shopping. The beds were comfortable.
Negatives:
Ocean view was off in the distance, across 3 parking lots, and glimpsed between buildings. Also, I filtered my hotel search for parking on site, and expected it to be free. I didn't read the fine details, so don't be me. It's $35 a night. Also there's a disclaimer on their valet ticket that they're not responsible for any damage or theft to your vehicle or belongings.

Negatives:
I was very angry and scared. As I was about to leave my room, a man in the hall was ranting and screaming. He looked like he takes dangerous drugs. Later he threw food, partially eaten waffles and sausages etc on the hallway floor.
At breakfast, there was a man slumped and snoring in a booth. Every so often he would open his eyes to look around.
American accents, one white male, one black male.
Hampton Inn should alert travelers that it has become a homeless shelter. I encountered a similar situation at the Framingham Mass Hampton Inn, where I at first didn’t understand why children were picked up for school at the hotel, and their parents wandered around in their PJs all day.

Liked location, style, breakfast was decent. Staff were fine but not overly friendly, but accommodating.

In our room the alarm clock wasn’t working, clock wasn’t sprung forward, furniture looked pretty tired, but room was clean.

We have several family members who are allergic to pets. There was no way to accommodate this issue according to the staff, and pets were all over the place. Frustrated when pets are the priority over people.

The location was perfect as my partner and I were able to easily walk to all of the spots in Portland we wanted to check out during our one day stay. Staff members were friendly. The breakfast was also lovely and had a good mixture of savory and sweet items (nothing fancy, but it definitely gets the job done).
Negatives:
The noise from the hallway was easily heard during our entire stay - if anyone was in the hallway or rooms nearby, we heard them coming. The door almost sounded loose, as if it was being pushed open whenever a nearby door was opened. The beds weren’t horrible, but overall not the most comfortable. As for parking, only valet is available (for $35 a night) - the service was quick and professional but I would much rather be able to park my own car (ideally for free if I’m paying to stay at a hotel with a parking lot). These are little things I wouldn’t normally be bothered by, but at nearly $200 a night it should be better.
