Positives: I’d like to say I enjoyed checking out but even that was unpleasant, as the concierge tried to make us feel bad for him and his arduous job of checking 400+ “renovated” rooms for damage. The thought that was his job alone or that anyone in the hospitality industry thinks that is a good excuse for not being aware of the tenement-like conditions of their hotel rooms is outrageous. He then proceeded to attempt to argue with us about why our obviously kicked in-door broken door jamb was actually a result of foundation settling in that one specific location and even attempt to draw us a diagram of building settlement (I am a real estate agent with structural engineering experience and very familiar with settling; however, we also just wanted to leave!). There was truly nothing pleasant or likable about our stay. I guess you could say not being robbed in our room that didn’t sufficiently lock was likable, in comparison to the overall experience. Especially since the phone lines don’t work, so if there was an emergency we couldn’t have called for help. The fact that my husband was able to get me out of the dimly-lit bathroom after I mistakenly closed the sliding barn door with no interior handle, thus locking myself in the washroom, was a pleasant surprise. We also managed to not slip and fall in the flood of water that ran out of the shower area and into the sink/closet space because of a broken shower head handle that sent water running all over the place and forced my 6’2” husband to shower crouched over the 5’ spot he could rest the handheld shower head without flooding the room. It was good we didn’t slip and fall, I guess, especially since I’m 5 months pregnant. And I have to say, we must have somewhat of a better experience than the woman in her pajamas (remember, no room phones so everyone with an issue gets to go down to the front desk), nearly in tears because she had just been trying to sleep in her room for 2 days and couldn’t because conditions were so...
Negatives: Please see above. In addition to the fact that the phones, door and shower were broken (broken hardware in multiple places in the shower), there was also leftover trash from a previous visitor in the shower. And the door that wouldn’t open or close properly, obviously (from the scuffs and dents on outside of the door and the broken door jamb) because it had been kicked in, their solution was to simply remove the plate of the door jamb making the room completely susceptible to another invasion. There were exposed wires throughout the room. The service was slow and full of excuses. The property was in terrible condition. It was not worth ¼ of the price we paid to stay there. We’ve stayed in hostels that were MUCH nicer.

Positives: The room was clean. The location is great, with close access to different subway lines. The staff was very friendly.
Negatives: There was no hair dryer in my room. I went down to the front desk to ask for one and was told that one would be brought up to my room, but I ended up never receiving one.

Positives: Staff were very nice. Location was convenient to go into Manhattan.
Negatives: Room was very small. Shower door was defective and water spilled onto floor. Had to put towels on floor in order not to slip coming out of shower. Not enough towels. Towels were rough to the touch. TV took forever to turn on and had poor channels.
