Tarrytown House Estate on the Hudson

Negatives: the breakfast food was mediocre. The coffee was terrible. They put us in a room without an elevator. There was no place to eat lunch. The restaurant is Chinese, and although it is good, there should be other options. Our keycard didn't work and there was no one at the desk for about an hour. We had to wait in the hallway.

Negatives: Could have been a little cleaner on stairs and in halls

Negatives: The hot and cold water in the sink was reversed. After you turned the cold water on after about one minute it would turn extremely hot. Considering it was a handicapped room or a room a more elderly person might need the hot water from the cold faucet could be a problem. Many different sounds all night long.

Negatives: Had to carry luggage up and down stairs

Negatives: Pain to get luggage to room, long walk over difficult pathways & high doorways. No Cellar door bar for guests anymore. Breakfast was expensive & not as good as free Marriott breakfasts.

Negatives: Needs some brightening up of hallways and some paint otherwise fine.

Negatives: I got the impression that every hotel staff member I encountered was in the wrong field of work. No one seemed happy. Not once did anyone provide a good level of service. They weren't friendly or helpful. That included check in, when I was charged the whole stay when I had already paid and when the lock on the door didn't work. They also need to retrofit an elevator - carrying luggage down three flights of stairs was bad, but carrying it back up was awful.

Negatives: Multiple guests had to replace their key cards multiple times. We were informed that they are replacing the entry systems and our building (Putnam) had not yet been done. Still quite frustrating as it is also a long walk up a few flights of stairs to get back to the desk. Also, not wheelchair accessible in most areas. The bellboys were available to move luggage to rooms. It was really not possible to avoid having to do at least a flight of stairs. The “fewer stairs” detour was through several entrances/exits and hallways. Would have loved a heads up there so we could have asked for better room placement or warned less mobile relatives.

Negatives: Hotel staff did not initiate assistance with our basic needs, like towels or toiletries. No assistance or communication was provided to myself or my spouse when the facility lost power for more than 48 hours. We had to find out what was going on with the property on our own. They never checked on us, our well being, or to communicate the situation. The staff didn’t offer any assistance to safely help me bring two large suitcases down a flight of stairs within King Mansion when I alerted them that we would have to leave if they have no power. It was completely pitch black in the stairwell. It was extremely unsafe. The hotel staff did not offer to find us another accommodation in the area during the power outage with no known determination on when power would be restored. We had to fend for ourselves. No one seemed to care. Not worth the money we paid. Very very disappointed.

Negatives: Not very clean under the bed it was full of dust and the room had a smell

Negatives: The rooms were grossly outdated!!! When we pulled onto property the front gate was falling off the pillars, that should have been our first sign we were staying at a run down facility. Bathrooms tubs were old and dirty in rooms, carpet was stained and not vacuumed. Walls looked like they had been painted ver and wallpapered 100s of times. Very run down and not welcoming. Goosefeathers (restaurant on prperty) is only thing modernized and enjoyable.
