Very good
Positives:
My friends and I loved the decor and the size of the room. We booked a suite and we believed the the living room size was decent. Although the homeless population is substantial in Portland, we felt safe walking to attractions/restaurants by the hotel and thought of that area to be safer than many sections in the city.
Negatives:
I wish they had a restaurant on the premises- they are affiliated with a restaurant close by that will offer “room service,” however the hours were not favorable.

Artsy Decor
Negatives:
Daytime in the neighborhood was great, however the area was not great at night... many passed out addicts in the open on the sidewalks, and several "high" persons moving around the area soliciting for donations from anyone they encountered.

The hotel was great, but...
Positives:
The location is good for downtown attractions - relatively close to the water. The staff were very nice and welcoming.
The room size was great, and the bed was comfortable enough for a decent night's rest.
Negatives:
1. The price: Portland hotels charge an extra $30/day as a city tax. Some of it is returned to you in the form of restaurant credit, but there's no restaurant here - the local one (the Finch) was closed most of the time, so we couldn't redeem it. Same goes for breakfast - there's some arrangement with a local restaurant, but between the $5 delivery fee and the mandatory 18% tip, you're really not left with much.
2. The parking: Again, a Portland thing - $40-50 a night. Outrageous.
3. The building itself is old. You can hear the pipes anytime the upstairs neighbor showers. And the bathroom itself could use an overhaul.
4. Best for last - the decor: SOMEONE thought "eclectic" means "throw every possible color and shape together". SOMEONE needs to get their eyes checked. Seriously, even Wes Anderson would look at it and go, "Whoa, guys, I think you overdid it".

Positives:
Right in downtown Portland- we were walking distance to Powell’s World of Books (highly recommend!), many restaurants, other stores and coffee shops. I absolutely love the eclectic decor of the hotel and our room in particular was really fun and as big as a whole apartment with doors that separated the entrance, bathroom, sitting room and bedroom. I got up early and used the gym which was huge and well maintained with a fridge that had cold water and chilled towels. Water pressure in the bathroom was excellent and I had the best shower of our trip there. Staff was so helpful and friendly, they told me that we get a $15 dollar per day credit at the mini-market (located at the front desk) and gave me a new razor and shave cream for free. So
Glad we stayed here!
Negatives:
No fridge in the room (but I did overhear them telling another guest they would bring one up if asked). It did take me a hot minute to find the ice machine, I had to go down 2 floors and there was no sign on my floor about it.
