Positives:
Loved the specious rooms. The lobby was beautiful! The first night, we left my husband's phone in the car when we handed it over to the vallet. The gentleman was downstairs in the lobby, with the phone getting ready to call the room. It was nice that he grabbed it and brought it in. Wish he was there our entire stay he was so nice. Felt at ease leaving my car in his hands
Negatives:
I found a coffee stirer under the stool at the end of the bed and a bandage wrapper on the floor near the table that had the water cups and ice bucket on it. They need to pay better attention when vacuuming the rooms. Wasn't enough to make me switch rooms, but I was not happy to find garbage on the carpet. My husband was a little upset while waiting for 20 minutes for vallet ($35 per day). The front desk couldn't get ahold of the gentlemen working vallet. He was just not answering when they were calling looking for him. We found him outside the front door, ignoring the calls. The next morning, we saw our car from the window left on the street overnight, not in the parking garage where the vallet had parked it the 2 previous nights.

Beautiful historic hotel
Positives:
The location is fantastic.... right in the heart of a nice part of Allentown. Pretty easy street parking. ArtWalk nearby. Rooms were amazingly spacious, carpet was reasonably clean. Lovely communal spaces.
Negatives:
Bed was not comfortable -- there was a bit of a "divet" where I was trying to sleep. HUGE pillows that made it impossible to sleep. I asked in the morning for smaller pillows and wasn't given them at all during the day, so finally, when we came back ready to turn in for the night, I had to ask for them again, and it was a whole thing to get them. Sheets were starchy, not soft. Bathroom is weirdly designed, ok, but fan was super loud and very little space at the single sink. If the staff had smiled a bit, it would have been better, but most of them didn't look happy to help us. Need more training. Our friends, who had a different room, said their walls were thin and they were hearing the neighbors. We didn't have that problem. For security reasons, you need to put your keycard to the elevator panel every time you want to use it.

Old world Hotel with modern...
Positives:
Location, picked me up from airport in their Luxury Limousine, staff very cordial and attentive to detail , very secure ie elevator access via room card , fantastic decor , bar area with top shelf liquor, breakfast-Lunch-available adjacent to bar, laundry service available or self-laundry, room is immaculate, plenty of towels, toiletries, desk area with sofa, sheets sparkle clean all accented by a welcoming and comforting aroma. Check out at 12pm , 24hr snack area available. Ice machines on every floor. Tastefully decorated with historic pictures of Allentown businesses throughout. Overall, The Americus delivers above and beyond. Kudos to Big Al. !!

Positives:
I liked that the hotel had some historical signficance.
Negatives:
Location was very noisy. Police sirens, loud cars racing up and down the street. I didn't think the hotel was a good value, I expected a better standard for $240 a night. The front desk staff incorrectly told me I had to move my car by 7 am from the front of the hotel but in fact street parking on Sundays was free. We ordered room service, the parmesan truffle fries were soggy and the meal was expensive and the quality didn't match the price.

Very good
Positives:
Historical property very well maintained. Valet, front desk and breakfast server staff was friendly, attentive and helpful.
Room was spotless, cudos to the housekeeping gang.
Negatives:
Dinner options were terrible, front desk was to double as server, didn't stay for dinner as were told there were few options on the menu available (for reheating) and went else where. Great Mexican restaurant across the street.
Neighborhood was a bit shady at night with a derelict/boarded up building next door and many homeless people hanging out. For a Saturday evening there were no entertainment options in the neighborhood.
Our room was advertised as having a city view, but many rooms on the first floor had windows that had no view and Infact were frosted over with film so there was no view at all. Felt like a basement apartment.

Go for the history, but...
Positives:
The hotel itself was beautiful and so were the rooms.
Negatives:
The front desk receptionist wasn't pleasing and made no effort to walk us through our first stay with them. They spoke very low and waited for us to initiate every conversation, and it felt like they didn't want to be bothered by us.

Positives:
It was very pretty inside. Very clean and comfortable.
Negatives:
We were there for a formal event and there wasn’t a full length mirror in the room. The only mirror was a small one above the bathroom sink.

Negatives:
My room was on the 6th street side, there was a lot of noise from the street the entire night, I was not able to enjoy a good night sleep. I like to sleep on thin pillows, all of the pillows (4) were very thick.
