I try to make it all the way to Chattanooga from New Orleans in the first day when I'm heading to Lynchburg Virginia.
Biggest reason is this motel is a good deal, clean, comfortable, an indoor pool, and a great staff.

The staff at the front desk were rude to each other. They were nice to guest. The pool had chuncks of hair lined up on the brick edge. We stayed 4 days, and the hair was there every day. The hallways looked like they had never been vacuumed. The beds were awful. The bathrooms were so tiny.

The bed wasn’t too hard, and the property seemed to be in a good area.
Negatives:
The room REEKED of cigaratte smoke even though it was supposed to be nonsmoking (they refused to move us), the towels were wet, and the man at the front desk was incredibly sexist and rude.

Mattress springs were worn and loud making it hard to sleep. When dropping off my key at check out, the desk clerk fussed at me for dropping my key in the basket instead of telling him my room number & that I was checking out even though the room number was written on the keys. Having traveled many times, this is the first time I have had staff that seemed unable to handle the checkout process of multiple guests at a time. Every other hotel/motel, without exception, has allowed the process of leaving the keys at the desk without having to interact with the person at the desk.

The room, pool, rude staff, clogged sink, telephone didn't work, fire detector hanging by the wires, shower didn't work, reported children running in the room above us to the staff and they were rude. Had to walk to the office at 3 am bc the phone didn't work and staff was rude about it.
