It was the third time we have stayed there. We recently purchased a home in Gate City, Va. just six miles away. So the Red Roof Inn has been our base of operations so to speak. A shout out to Bobbi who prepares the wonderful continental breakfast during the week. She has a tremendous work ethic and does a wonderful job on the excellent breakfast.
Negatives:
We spent the day out at our new home getting things done for our move in end of the month. Tired from a long day, we returned to the hotel at around 4pm and house keeping had not cleaned our room. Not that big of a deal, we survived realizing some times things get missed.

Positives:
Breakfast was pretty good. Check-out staff were attentive. Location was convenient. Climate control was good. We booked it because the fee for our dog was $0, unlike some chains that charge $50-$75 per stay.
Negatives:
The aquarium at check-in was filthy; that set the tone for the visit. The check-in staff were uninterested in stopping their conversation to attend to me. The return air vent had a buildup of dust; the HVAC unit was rusty and dirty. The ice machine did not work. The washing machine, after my husband paid for the detergent and got a bunch of quarters, was out of order. The laundry facility was a mess, with clothing tossed on the ground presumably by another guest from the dryer. Our room was noisy. We could hear our neighbors' every word.

Positives:
It was close to the interstate for easy access.
Negatives:
the refrigerator didn’t work, couldn’t find any ice machine that worked, and the seal around the entrance door was defective or non-existent which allowed cold air to enter the room all night long. Also, the desk chair armrests were all worn out and unsanitary.
