Positives: We had a reservation for Friday, February 23 at the Harrisonburg VA Hampton Inn South. Our travels started in Los Angeles that morning, flying into Charlotte NC at 5:00 PM. I called the Hampton Inn to let them know our arrival would be @ 11:00 PM . A representative from the hotel followed up with another phone call to confirm our arrival time. When we arrived at the hotel at 10:50 PM, we were informed that we did not have a room because the hotel overbooked and gave our room to another guest. They offered to relocate us to the Country Inn & Suites ( next to Hampton Inn property) and when we arrived there, were told they could not honor the relocation because there was no form of payment from Hampton Inn. We ended up paying for the room ourselves with the promise of a " Be Our Guest" voucher from Hampton Inn to arrive within 3-4 weeks. I am doubtful that will ever arrive. Overall, a frustrating and infuriating experience.

Positives: I like that the hotel was nice and quiet. The location is also very close to many stores and restaurants which was very convenient. The hotel was only 20 mins away from the ski resort which was the reason for our visit.
Negatives: The only complaint we have is the swimming pool. We have never been in a pool that dye and damaged our swimsuit. Our eyes were burning all night after we left the pool. The most upsetting was what it did to our hair. We couldn’t even comb through it after shampooing and conditioner. It felt like our hair was bleached. It’s been a few days and our hair still feels gross. So upsetting because we have healthy hair. I hope the hotel look into this matter so that other guest don’t have the same experience.

Positives: Check in was very difficult!! Somehow my reservation was lost (later found out that my first and last name were reversed on the reservation) and staff could not figure out what happened. Luckily I had my confirmation information because they said there was only one room left for "contingencies". They re-booked me through Hampton Inn directly in order to secure my room. The next morning my account had been charged twice. There was a very nice staff member who quickly figured out the original problem and quickly refunded the second charge. The room was fine, pretty cramped, not dirty. We have stayed at many Hampton Inns and this was by far the worst. As a matter of fact, we stayed at another Hampton the very next night in Winchester and that one was totally up to standards. We will never return to this particular one again.
Negatives: Breakfast was absolutely abysmal. I don't expect 5 star food, but there was very little provided and what was there was not edible. Biggest disappointment was the coffee, it was terrible!! Usually there are 2 or 3 options (dark, medium roast, etc) but there was only one and it tasted like dish water. Disappointing since they usually have pretty decent coffee.
