Motel 6 Redding South

Negatives: This was a very scary place to attempt to stay. My 11 year old son and I arrived around 9:30 at night after visiting with family. I booked this hotel because of the location. I lived in Redding from 2010-2014 and knew that there was a homeless issue. I can't believe how much worse it has become. When we got to the hotel, we checked in and then moved our car a few spots in order to have a better view of our room, which was on the 2nd floor. The room next to ours had their door open and a mid to late-twenties gentleman standing in the doorway. My son and I were waiting in the car for him to go back in his room before we went up. As we were waiting, a group of homeless men and women walked up to the property and sat in the bushes right in front of our car. When I looked to the left, there was a man sleeping in the back of his truck. I just wanted to get into the room. We waited there for 30 minutes; the man in the doorway never closed his door and kept fixing the bedsheets and talking to someone in the room (we could see this from our car) and the homeless group kept going back and forth into the lobby. I never had a chance to go into the lobby to ask if we could switch rooms (to one that didn't have people hanging out outside of). My son was scared and so was I. We decided to instead drive the 2.5 hours home that night. It was very disappointing.

Negatives: the reservation said breakfast was included but there was none

Negatives: I called the front desk to inform them that we didn’t have any toilet paper in our room. The lady that answered the phone told me that they ran out of toilet paper.

Negatives: Dirty. Got 2 options of one room that door has been kicked in and no television or another room that had no towels or towel rack..went to ask for towels and eneded up with stuff they had for the pooll.

Negatives: They poorly managed the rooms the people had to stay in. No one came to clean my room the whole week I was there.

Negatives: Mattress was worn out and shot. Back pain after. No soap in the room

Negatives: The property was very run down.The room was poorly furnished, and the phone didn't work. They didn't even have a bedspread

Negatives: How you can hear anything and everything going on outside the room

Negatives: The hotel's pricing was significantly higher than the value provided. Despite the advertised amenities, the actual experience fell short of expectations. Disappointingly, the quality of facilities did not justify the inflated cost.

Negatives: Check in was kind of a mess. My kid and I drove for 4.5 hours straight and arrived at 2:45. We both had to go to the bathroom but when I asked to check in I was told no, check in is at 3:00. She would not look to see if a room was ready, just no, not until 3. No grace period unfortunately. I asked if we could use a bathroom, and no, we could not. We were told to go find a gas station. My kid ended up having an accident and had to wait in it, because by the time we came back there was a line of people she also told to come back at three. I was ahead of an elderly woman who also had to use the restroom. Check in itself took about 15 minutes, so if we'd started at 2:45, we still wouldn't have gotten to the room until three anyway, but whatever. I then asked to switch rooms, saying I didn't mind if I had to go from two beds to one, and she said she didn't want to downgrade me to one bed because the refund process would be too difficult. So she asked her supervisor what to do and was advised to upgrade us for free, which was nice, though I think the upgrade was that we got an accessibility room. Through it all, she was trying to be friendly and helpful, it was just all kind of mess. There were also a number of homeless people walking the property, but over all it was fine, just wouldn't want to do it again.

Negatives: The only complaint is all the night walker late at night and the poor office staff is all by herself and there is no security. Yes there are cameras but she is only one lady. And then you get the night walker’s yelling.
