Positives:
My parents stayed at Le Manoir Richelieu in the 1950's so, 73 years later, here I am with my wife. Three nights gave us the time to enjoy all the facilities, visit neighbouring towns and villages, hike, swim, relax. This hotel is featured as a five star first class hotel, one of the "Castles of the North" and it deserves that recognition as the entire property is so expansive and interesting in so many ways.
Negatives:
As a first class five star hotel, in a property with so much elegance and history, it was disappointing, even disturbing, that so many guests dressed so casually. One would expect that, given that the property and its hospitality staff are so perfect and poised, all guests would want to rise to the occasion, be proud to be staying in this amazing "Manoir" and would make an effort to look and behave in a smart manner. While, once upon a time, there were specific dress codes for meal times, maybe first class hotels could have a "recommended attire guideline" that would be helpful to all.

So glad we stayed three nighs to really experience & appreciate the Manoir and Charlevoix region.

Negatives:
Looked run down for a Fairmont Hotel
No Bar service at the pool , was told to get my own drink at the bar ( GH level) or they would order with room service but it would be very long
We both realized after checking out , on the ferry , that we left my husband swimsuit on the back hook of the bathroom , we both saw it there that morning , I called the Hotel to report , I had to call 3 days later because no follow up , to be told that the swimsuit was not found , very disappointed, we are 100% sure it was there , both of us saw it as we were packing that morning if someone had gone when I called the first time to check it would have been right there .anyway

Positives:
The hotel and grounds were beautiful and well maintained.
Negatives:
The Casino was not open on the days we were there. It was not indicated on the website which I think it should be added as it seemed we werent the only travelers surprised to find it closed.

Very good
Positives:
The hotel itself is stunning, incredible architecture, beautiful views, lavish grounds and this wonderful 1930s charm that makes you feel like you took a step back in time when you first enter the hotel. Room was comfortable and clean. The staff and service were also outstanding. Attentive, efficient and very friendly service from the entire staff.
Negatives:
The charm however quickly wears off when you realize that your booking.com reservation at the manoir seems to mean that they give you 'bargain' rooms, i.e. they put you on the first floor of the hotel with all of the wedding groups and other various party people, generally a young, very loud and incredibly disruptive crowd. My room was across from the elevator and on the second night of my stay, I did not get any sleep before 4 am from all of the screaming and loud talking of drunk people wading out of the elevator and partying from room to room in the hallway. The first night was a little bit better, I managed to get some measure of tranquility after 1 AM! And to be clear, the booking.com reservation was cheaper than booking directly from the hotel website, but it still cost me 950$ for 2 nights. For that price, I should be able to expect civilized guests and the ability to have a good night's sleep. The food at the Bellerive was also extremely average, and that's putting it kindly. I had soup, a margarita pizza and a glass of wine for 75$, and the pizza tasted like cheap Boston pizza (the chain) and I had heartburn for 24 hours after eating it. No quality or finesse, very cheap ingredients. Second night I didn't take a chance on wasting 100$ on potentially bad food at the other restaurant and instead had a 40$ dinner at St-Hubert... This was by far the best meal I had at the hotel!!
