When I arrived, there was no offer to take my bag to my room. Twice during my stay my key card had to be reprogrammed.
No fridge in the room, I had to ask to have a light globe replaced and the hairdryer fixed.
Plastic plates, plastic cutlery & cardboard cups not acceptable. If I don’t use plastic at home, why would I pay to use it on vacation?

The location was great. It was in walking distance to the venue that we were attending. The check-in and check out went smoothly. The staff was friendly.
Negatives:
The room was small for the amount of money I paid for the room. The bed was not the most comfortable. It was decent. When I booked the room, it said that breakfast was included. There was no breakfast at all. I requested no feather pillows, and 2 pillows were feathered. Shortly after we arrived, an announcement was made to ignore the fire alarm because it was a false alarm. We did not hear the alarm at all.

The location is great. We wanted to stay in the Civil Rights district to explore the history. We explored the historical markers and followed the trails through the area. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great and the staff was friendly.

This is a lovely historic...
Positives:
It was better than a typical Hampton Inn. The historic building and location in downtown is the main draw. The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing local information. It was a great value that more than met our needs and expectations.
Negatives:
Not sure when the rooms were renovated but they did seem a little tired and dated. The public spaces were fine and provided historic photos of Birmingham and the building history. When in these spaces it did feel like a historic lux apartment building.

It’s an old hotel that is beautifully kept. The atmosphere was delightful. Awesome breakfast. Wonderfully friendly and efficient staff….loved it. Short walk to BJCC for concert, well lit when we returned in the dark!
