It has great potential. It is centrally located and has protected parking in a potentially rough area.

Staff was unwilling to help with a card problem that put declined funds on a pending hold (due to overzealous bank policies), forcing us check out after 1 night instead of the 3 we intended on staying, and leaving us temporarily stranded. A written statement that they would not try to pursue the declined transaction was all I needed (yes, it was a ridiculous request by my bank) to have the funds released. A funeral forced us to travel on a tight budget 3 days before payday. The floor in our room was dirty,with several sticky spots, and had an overwhelming smell of weed inside. The smell, we got used to after 10 minutes or so, the dirty floor, we kept our shoes on and I cleaned up the sticky spots, but the unwillingness to help with my stupid card issue to prevent us from being temporarily stranded and forcing us to find other accommodations, that was unforgivable. We usually end up in Bakersfield 2 or 3 times a year and usually stay for 4-5 days at a time, that coupled with fairly laxed expectations making us easy to please as well as liberal with decent/good reviews, is a missed opportunity for La Quinta inn & suites. We won’t be back.
