Positives:
Comfy bed, tons of mirrors, spacious shower. Kind staff. The room has seating options, microwave and minifridge and a tv and an AC.
You have to hang your clothes in the open, which didn't bother me.
Front door can only be opened by the hotel key card or an employee, I liked that safety feature.
There is parking in a gated/secure area.
Love the pool area with lounge chairs, theres sun all day on the pool.
Near bus stops and the metro b line, plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area.
Negatives:
The cleaning wasn't quite thorough (a piece of dirt stayed in the bathroom the entire stay, just pushed around)
Also there were ants primarily in the bathroom (3 at a time, no idea from where), 1 or 2 would make it to the bedroom. I had read about this issue in other reviews so I wasn't too surprised but disappointed nonetheless.
There were also ants on the lounge chairs in the pool area

Nice old hotel. Walking distance from the Metro B rail line. Good sense of security. Staff were friendly. Bed was really comfortable!

Positives:
The Hollywood Hotel is perfectly located, has awesome daily parking facilities, sincere staff, beautiful pool area, comfy rooms with good beds -- this was my second stay with HH. I love it that the ice machines work well, as did everything in my room.
Also, I feel very SAFE at the HH. The area has its share of homeless folk, but the HH Vermont/Santa Monica area is very walkable. No need to worry about security during your stay. No characters are wandering the halls, and there are no loud parties taking place on the premises, not even the pool area.
Negatives:
The hotel is aging so there are a few dings and scratches on the wall, like any residence does. The lampshades are yellowing just a big. BUT everything is so clean that the boo boos don't matter. I think the housekeepers take pride in their work.

If you are reading my review, watch out what I'm writing so you would not get a bad experience. Evidences are attached to my review. I stayed two nights. The first night I found insects in the bathroom and informed to the receptionist. The second night also found insects in the room and also insects inside the carry-on and cloths of my mother. Can you imagine that situation? I made a complain, but the hotel didn't have empathy to the client.
Negatives:
They have to make sure the rooms are clean obviously.
