We have stayed here previously and the mattress and pillows were decent when the configuration was two twins, but on this trip we went with a king mattress and it was pretty worn and tilted downwards towards your head. In tandem the pillows did not maintain much loft, so the sleeping experience was pretty brutal this trip that aggravated some medical issues (sleep apnea/acid reflux)
Also on this trip the fire alarm for the building went off at 11am, and with us getting a late start from the night and trying to get out by 12 checkout, we were forced to evac the room to only be told in the lobby it was a drill/test. The alarm traumatized our dog, and just added to the poor experience. Unsure why they couldn't inform guests ahead of time if this was a planned test (so we could have planned accordingly) or perform the test after checkout time and before check in(12-4).

For what I paid I would have hoped for a better experience. The toilet of the room was clogged, I had to take a cold bath because the water wouldn’t get warm enough, the elevator broke at the time of check out and I was on the 4th floor.

Positives:
Restaurant was quick, good service and reasonable prices. The hotel is in a good location for walking into town.
Negatives:
Room was in a basement level so very dark with only a partial view onto the street -- effectively just to see the wheels of parked tires. For all the advertising and the location, it was really disappointing to have a view akin to a car park. It feels so claustrophobic for me that it rather spoilt the trip. Apparently no other rooms were available. The ceiling fan had an error which meant it switched on randomly in the middle of the night and woke us all up (perhaps triggered by a remote from another room?), also USBs didn't work, nor did one of the 'fancy' light fittings that on one night wouldn't turn off (headboard dimmer strip).

Beautiful property
Positives:
We really enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is lovely with large rooms and a nice balcony. The location is perfect for exploring!
Car parking is easy and the room was very comfortable. The 'pub' they have was great with lovely staff.
Negatives:
The staff at the restaurant on the lobby were not very welcoming and friendly sadly, so we decided to have one drink and find another dinner venue
