My room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. When I reported this to the receptionist and requested a different room, she refused and insisted on checking the room herself. She returned, stating there was no smoke smell and mentioned she had sprayed some Febreze. I found her customer service skills lacking, as she appeared completely disengaged and unconcerned. Additionally, the mattress was very old and uncomfortable. While I have had pleasant experiences at other Motel 6 locations in California, I do not plan to return to this one.
