Staff was excellent. I had forgotten my phone on the bed. I realized it at the airport and called in a panic thinking they may take the sheets with the phone in them. I was put in touch with Amy who immediately ran to check the room before they stripped the bed. She only found my phone, she drove it out to the airport where I was able to meet her, retrieve it from her and still get on my flight. She was my personal hero that day!

We were forced to change rooms two times. The first room had the AC controls hanging out of the wall and they did not work. The TV was also not working. The second room had a major bed problem as one side of the king bed had colappsed. They did not fix.
Positives:
The hotel is in a safe area in San Diego downtown. The streets were all walkable and it is very close to the San Diego Convention Centre (15 min walk). It is a 5 min walk from the gaslamp area and close to many restaurants and shops. It is just a 10 min ride from the airport. The staff was friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The housekeeping staff was great! The lobby area was beautiful. This room is good for a 1-2 day work-related stay.
Negatives:
The room I stayed in was very small and did not match the pictures on the website that much. The room opens up to an area that has a washbasin just as you enter the room, which looks displeasing aesthetically. The bathroom was extremely small and the washbasin was separate from the bathroom, which was inconvenient to me personally. The bathroom had a sliding door that did not close tightly. The door did not have a security chain/ latch and I had to put a chair at night for added safety. The room did not have a good window view. The room also did not have appropriate lighting. The check-in and checkout times cannot be requested even a day in advance, you can only know if your request has been accepted on the same day, which was inconvenient and unpredictable for me.

Location to Southport. Starbucks downstairs. Free coffee station.
Negatives:
Rooms really small. We had a two queen double beds and there was barely any space. We had three people in our room and you had to take turns to move around. Bathroom also very compact. Sadly the homeless and drug epidemic has spread to San Diego and it is evident around the outside area of the hotel. No bar or restaurant available so you have to head into town in the evening.

The location was perfect for my needs . Close to everything and within walking distance of every place I needed to go with. Whilst the rooms are small they are comfy . A lot of history with this hotel which I enjoyed finding out about. The guided walk with Pamela on SATURDAY morning was a bonus. Very informative and interesting tour .

The rooms could be bigger but given the hotels history is totally understandable.
