Positives:
It was fairly close to Union Square and Chinatown. The bed was super comfortable and just the right amount of bedding for the temperature. The shower had great pressure. We arrived late and that was fine. We went down for breakfast but were handed a box which we took back to our room. It contained an apple, apple juice, yoghurt, snack bar, a madeleine and a packet of quick oats. We were also offered a cup of coffee. They were able to hold our luggage the next day while we did a day tour of the city (24 hour layover), even though we had checked out. When we returned to pick up our luggage we were invited to join the cheese, crackers and wine they had available for guests 4-6pm. The ladies on the desk at that time were super helpful.
Negatives:
The heating pipes are very noisy and clanged a lot and we seemed to hear every toilet flush and shower being run! We had a room overlooking the street so it was a little noisy.

Horrible noise isolation by the windows; we heard everything that happened in the street from the 6th floor with all of the windows closed! At 6 in the morning, someone was honking in the street for ~10 minutes straight, and we were all awakened.
Also, the breakfast and the coffee were mediocre.

We were upgraded for no particular reason and the room was huge and comfortable with all amenities we didn’t expect. We very much enjoyed the bath jets after walking about 8 miles around the city!
Negatives:
Two staff we encountered weren’t particularly friendly. The check out person was the loveliest woman though and so helpful regarding our next adventure northward.
