Centrally located in heart of San Francisco city center, this luxury boutique hotel is 5 minutes’ walk from Union Square and 2 minutes’ walk from the American Conservatory Theater. An on-site bar and restaurant are located on site. An iPod docking station and a 50-inch flat-screen TV with film channels are included in every spacious room at Hotel Adagio. They each have a view of Union Square or the city skyline. A fitness center is part of the hotel. The reception desk is staffed 24-hours a day. The Mortimer, a sophisticated and chic cocktail lounge, serves drinks in the lobby each evening. Elliott offers breakfast each morning and serves dishes with farm-to-table ingredients. Positives:
The room size for SF is excellent, because it is an older building. The room was tastefully done, with beautiful lamps. The staff was very prompt and kind. There's free filter coffee through the day and there is a lot of space in the lobby to hang around and do your work if needed.
Negatives:
They do not have buffet breakfast and you have to oder a-la-carte, there's usually a queue to be seated. May be they could invest in that. Also they didn't have an expresso machine in the hotel, which I think they must add immediately.

Cool views from the room, complimentary champagne in the lobby, great service from front desk, really comfortable bed, curtains are dark, room is very quiet. Good price for central location and level of comfort.
Negatives:
Coffee was empty in the lobby in the morning and no one ever replaced it. The coffee station was also not an efficient setup and would take a long time for people to get their own coffee. I waited a long time behind only 2 people who got the last two cups. Basically, no extra table for them to do their cream and sugars while the next person pours.
Parking was super expensive, I do not recommend bringing a vehicle.

Location was a significant disappointment, especially in terms of street filth (women should not drop daks & scratch as they walk/men not urinate as/when/where they feel like it and we found it all slightly sad as it was no comparison with our previous stays in SF. Also left feeling that hotel staff could do with more visual/upbeat recognition.

The front desk staff staff were all very attentive and accommodating. They worked hard to help me resolve a few different issuesl. I am very thankful for all their help. The G.M. was very helpful with providing options to help with my husband nausea.
Everyone, from the housekeepers, front desk, the G.M., and the servers each one had warm smiles, and genuine care. I am highly recommending to stay here rather than any place else. They are warm and inviting here. You will be thankful you did.
Negatives:
The high cost for parking. I wasn't aware until the last min. I dont like the lack of parking. makes it hard to leave and return early.

This is a nice hotel, clean, comfortable, with good size room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable. Breakfast was included in our rate; the food was decent. I would stay there again.
Negatives:
San Francisco has been going through some hard times. There's not much Adagio can do about the street condition or the social problems. Inside the hotel is a world apart. Outside the hotel the reality sets in.
