This is a great budget option in a great location near Union Square, easy to get to by Bart+walk from SFO. The room was large, I got a corner one which was great. The hotel has a lot of old charm and decor which I liked. The staff was really friendly.
Negatives:
It's on the older side, so a bit musky. The cleanliness is not impeccable, but tolerable. The main dislike I had was the quality of the bedding and the bed and towels. It would have made a huge difference if it was nicer, it's just the cheapest quality you can get at a motel.

I do not recommend this hotel. Staff was very rude and not helpful. The booking app never specified that I could not receive visits. They totally denied the access to my visit. I felt that I was a hostel. I saw how they were treating other guests and they were very strict so if you want to have a good time in SF, avoid this place. It is not worth it.

Noisy plumbing means you get awakened when any neighbour takes a shower even with sleeping plugs.
I was almost charged for leaving my bag luggage 26 hours after I couldn't pick it up the previous day since I didn't have the tag (this fee was never mentioned).
And finally my confirmed reservation was cancelled due to an internal policy of 15 days max (also never communicated).
Oh and no answer to booking messages
