Positives: My wife and I were enroute from the east coast to New Zealand when a flight cancellation forced us to get a room in San Francisco for the night. We were skeptical of the relatively low price for a lodging near Union Square, but rolled the dice anyway. What a pleasant surprise! Counter staff were very friendly, the lobby/lounge was very welcoming, and the room was immaculate. Only a short walk from the King George and we were at Union Square; various cafes and eateries were within five minutes on foot. Our stay set us up well for a very pleasant day of exploring downtown before flying out for Auckland.

Negatives: The room could have been a little larger, but this is par for the course at vintage hotels in San Francisco.
