Negatives: The hotel was Lister as a "4 Star" property. You ask for and pay for a two bed room with a City View. Then you receive an email offering an upgrade to a City View with better sheets and towels. When we arrived they had us on the second floor by the elevator. Some upgrade. We went down to the desk again waited in line until they would ask us what we wanted. We told them had to be a little loud , then they put us in a room on the 5th floor away from the noise. We checked with lady cleaning the rooms she said that the rooms were all the same so upgrade was a sham. Room was OK, 50" TV as billed. BUT TV only worked for a few minutes then turned off. After waiting about 15 to 20 minutes it would continue with the news. We reported the broken TV issue three times, each time the front desk said that they would fix it. It stayed broken. The biggest warning that I can give anyone thanking to stay there is they charge you another $100.00 as a deposit, except they run it through. We are checking out and they told us that it was for cleaning room charge and additional fees. That everyone pays this. They are crooks. We are dealing with our bank now to return the theft of the additional charges. I will use a national chain, say Hilton next visit to Washington in three months. BEWARE!, of The Darcy Hotel. I have never had to give a bad review before. Good luck and safe travel.

Negatives: I'm not complaining, more observing, but when we arrived (during the night shift) we were surprised that the hotel had to preauthorise a payment of several hundred dollars in case we damaged the room or something. It made me a bit uncomfortable because it was quite a lot of extra money to entrust to the hotel, but the real issue was that the concierge on duty didn't have sufficiently good English to explain what was happening. It took us a while to understand why we appeared to be being charged hundreds of extra dollars. (To be clear, that money was never taken from our account, it just would have been nice to not think we had to pay a huge hidden fee on arrival, it cast a cloud over our first night)

Negatives: The carpet looked very dirty, despite not being dusty. I wish there was more counter space in the room to put my objects. There is a $35 amenity fee which I was not expecting, despite no breakfast being included with this fee.

Negatives: The room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 16pm. The staff weren’t helpful except on our last day, we were overcharged but no one helped us to solve the problem. The hotel is 15 min walk from metro
