The room was comfortable and clean. I slept really well! as only there one night - arrived around 9 pm and gone by 8 am. The room was expensive, though a good value by DC standards. I had an appointment in the morning in DuPont Circle and the walk was easy and close enough. I took an uber from the airport to the hotel, as I am not familiar with the layout of DC and I was traveling alone. If I were traveling with someone else, I think it would have been fairly straightforward to get from the airport to the hotel.
Negatives:
When I arrived, I was totally ignored by the person at the reception desk (there were two people working, one was helping someone who walked in just before me. After a minute of standing in silence in front of the desk, I spoke up, and after a long pause, the person at the desk finally acknowledged my existence and put off a clear vibe of not being happy to have to spend time checking me in. I was also charged for taking some food from the minibar (which I did not, nor did I touch anything or even come close), but I was reimbursed after making a phone call to the hotel. I was told I would be sent an updated invoice - I never was, but saw the charge come off my credit card bill the following day.

Positives:
Fantastic, large room which was well appointed. Robe too! Nice Shower. The fitness room was impressive and very nice for a hotel. Location was perfect for visiting family and going to restaurants, although we did uber around more than walk, but the weather was cold, too, so we may walk more in better weather. Downstairs bar and coffee shop was a nice bonus.

- HVAC systems outside the hotel totally messed up my first night. Switched to another room on the next night.
- The extra-charge on 'amenities' which appeared mandatory even if none of those amenities were used.
- This hotel, especially the carpet, needs a serious updating
Rates on Booking.com should reflect the actual price to pay not some baseline pricing because we, consumers, make our decision in part on the basis of your published rates.

I like the space in the room, the bed, the bathroom, the towels. The clean service, the staff at the front desk, is always willing to help you. I love the design, from the main entrance till the room. The story behind the walls. Every single detail has been thought to be part of a whole. I liked the location. I love the atmosphere. The food in the restaurant was delicious too.

The only thing and isn't it related directly with the hotel was 2 mistakes in the restaurant with my orders. Everything else was perfect.
