W Fort Lauderdale

Negatives: Upon checking in, Christopher left us for a long time to see if he can give us a better view, even though we never asked. Took about 10-15 minutes to come back I was confused about the better view since I paid for ocean view balcony. Second, we asked where there was food, and we were given the options and were told there was food at all times on the pool deck. When we got there, we sat down.. took a while for someone to come greet us, only to tell us they werent serving food anymore. We gave our luggage ticket to Christopher at the front desk, when we checked in, and he said they would take up out luggage, About two hours had passed and we still had no clothes. I had to call and see where our things were. I booked this stay for my husbands birthday, The booking on booking.com said ocean view.. usually when it says that it means you can see the ocean directly from your balcony.. not on the sides.. but thats besides the point. Ive stayed at the W in Miami before and have never experienced something like this. I wanted this stay to be special, but it was full it bumps in the road..

Negatives: The decor and quality of the apartment is old and tired Of the two phones in the room only one worked and this was possible only after using a phone in the lobby to contact reception and have engineering come up and show the special way the phone had to be operated in order for it to work. What the? I was still charged for a local call on my bill for attempting to contact reception from the faulty phone. The light switches arent straight forward - they operate random lights not located in the room they are located and near impossible to work out - far more complicated than it needs to be (and I grew up with computers so not a tech cognitive issue) Finally, we had requested a roll away bed and on the day of check in came home at 11pm only to find it still hadnt been delivered. 3 phone calls to the front desk and 50 mins later my child was finally able to go to sleep. For a 4.5/5 star hotel, the W is far below this standard. Felt more like a Mantra or similar brand youd associated with a beach holiday location. For a $1,200 per night 2 bed apartment, I expect a LOT more.

Negatives: The smell in the hallway and inside my room

Negatives: Only two things could use improvement, 1 while we were there, only one elevator in our tower was working, we received a notice after we checked out that the staff elevators were available for our use. 2. The shower in our room was clear glass which in a king suite would be fine, but in a two bed shared space (we are a family with teenagers) it didn't work so well.

Negatives: - Firstly, when we arrived around 8PM they told us the room WAS NOT READY?!! I dont understand how this is possible as the check-in time starts at 3PM. Not sure if they only said this that we would get expensive drinks at their hotel bar? - We paid for a room with a partial ocean view. However, we did not get that and were not informed about that. - The room was REALLY dirty. It had blood stains on the carpet, stained sofa that need to be deep cleaned, dirty kitchen cabinets. Thrash from previous guest under the sink. Unpleasant smell. - Balcony doors did not lock. Same with the sliding doors in the other bedroom, did not fully close.

Negatives: Was never told about $200/day fee for "incidentals". Was never told I'd be charged for overnight parking. I never used anything from the minibar, but was charged for something anyway. I still have not received refunds for these outrageous fees for incidentals. Stay Away.
