Positives:
This is a historic hotel that has been renovated (probably many times) in order to keep up with its appearance (which they are doing a decent job with). The lobby area and general architecture is beautiful and is more interesting than your typical Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, etc, so that alone was worth the stay. The bed was very comfy. The room we stayed in was quite long and narrow (just the charm of a historic hotel!). While we didn't have a great view of ATL we did have a nice view of the other side of the hotel which again is very pretty. The staff checked on us multiple times to see how we were doing so we felt cared for. Additionally, the doormen/doorwoman were very friendly and we enjoyed being greeted when going in and out. The location was perfect for us as we had business at Georgia Tech (just a few minutes walk away) and were able to explore a lot of midtown on foot. Being across from the Fox theater was fun too!
Negatives:
A few nit-picky things that might not matter to other people, but which we didn't prefer. 1) We felt that the furniture in the room was a bit sparse (for example a chair in a corner but no light by it so it was too dark to sit there. 2) While we understand that renovations at this hotel must be continually done and carrying them out while maintaining the structural integrity of a historic hotel must be hard, we found our bathroom just a tad bit rough around the edges (just a bit more caulking and maintenance of the tiles in the shower is all that is needed (again super minor)). 3) We didn't have a mini fridge in our room and when we asked if one could be delivered they originally said yes, but then upon us asking again a few hours later as it hadn't been delivered yet, they were out of them. Not a big deal but we did have some perishable food with us so kind of a bummer. 4) We were sent so many check in and check out notices that it felt that we were too well cared for! We were already very busy and didn't understand why we had to fill out info about our stay before arriving.
