Positives: This is one of the older properties in Waikiki, second to third row from the beach. It is well managed and safe with friendly staff at the front desk. Generally good value. My room was clean, well equipped (refrigerator, microwave, iron, but no coffee maker), functional and recently renovated. Waikiki beach is 3 minutes away, lots of restaurants, bars and stores close by. There is a bus stop with direct connection to the airport 1 minute away (line 20, ca. 1 hour from/to HNL). I would stay again for a layover, considering the price. But I would not recommend this place for a longer stay at Waikiki.
Negatives: The noise! My room was on the second floor directly facing the street (room 227). The room has virtually no sound proofing. Both bedroom and bathroom windows cannot be closed completely, so I heard street traffic, pedestrians and party people more or less the whole night. While I am not overly sensitive to noise and I only stayed for one night, my sleep was not very good. The housekeeping in the communal areas of the hotel could be improved. The place appears somewhat cluttered, some of the hallways and staircases look very uninviting and are not very clean.
