Positives: Nice location if you are interested in shopping.
Negatives: Worn-out and old rooms. Very few light, dark rooms. No fresh air, windows can’t be opened. I get depressed in these kind of hotel rooms.

Positives: We definitely liked the location, the bed was very comfortable, extra sitting space on the couch and chair at the table. There was no cutlery in the room so when we asked at the reception they delivered shortly.
Negatives: The furniture was a bit worn, no sockets close to the bed, I'd prefer a garbage bin with a lid in bathroom. No view from the window though it was not a major problem.

Positives: The staff was very friendly, the room very clean and the bed comfortable. And the location was great along the magnificent mile.
Negatives: Chicago hotels are way overpriced. This one was reasonable in comparison, yet over US$ 200/night is outrageous for a hotel that needs to be renovated. The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was falling off the wall and no plugs next to the bed.

Positives: This hotel gets top marks not just for the comfortable rooms , but especially for the exceptional staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Everyone I interacted with, from the front desk staff who patiently answered my questions about the area to the housekeeping team who kept our room sparkling clean, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. they've guaranteed we'll be back for another stay. Their dedication to guest experience is truly worth taking the time to write this positive review.

Positives: The bed was comfortable and the breakfast service and quality of food was outstanding. Ricky, our server, was extremely pleasant. We had a delightful conversation about the Whitehall Club and he had no knowledge of the history of the facility and said he appreciated the information so he could pass it on to other Guests,
Negatives: I had been a member of the private Whitehall Club for many years and stayed there numerous times. The "renovation" was really more of a tinkering than a true renovation. The compendium (the in-room binder with contact information for local theatres, restaurants and services, etc) was sorely out of date and the binder itself was tattered and obviously old. There was no note paper or pen in the desk which would have been nice to be able to let the front desk know of the several maintenance issues which were present (burned out light bulbs, etc.) The HVAC system was very noisy and loud. Only 3 outlets in the room with no provision of USB ports for charging. No plastic liners in either trash can. These are just a few of the differences that reflect truly good hospitality! I noted, too, that the management DOES respond to all reviews but always with the same short verbiage of “thank for for rating and reviewing us”. Very cookie cutter and done without any real sense of reading the review itself and responding appropriately. Poor management style! I owned a 5-palm rated luxury boutique hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for many years and always read each and every review, positive or not, and responded as appropriate, always thanking the Guest for staying with us and welcoming them again for a future stay. I was also Reservations Manager for the prestigious Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club on Cape Cod for many years and look for the details that reflect gracious hospitality. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk seemed disinterested and aloof and never gave us the breakfast vouchers or told us anything about the included breakfast. When we returned from dinner, that different front desk agent gave us the vouchers once we asked about the breakfast. I guess I was comparing the expected quality and service to be that of the old Whitehall Club and Hotel.

Positives: The location was great!
Negatives: The hotel needs a face lift, it’s really old and not in a good way. The toilet didn’t work and it took hours during midnight to get the problem resolved. The new room they gave us l due to the toilet issue had a bad smell and looked more dingy than the last room. Check in was horrible, their system didn’t work well, the manager tried to blame it on my card but it wasn’t, my card did work fine the next morning without any changes on my end, the manager was rude.

Positives: The bed was very comfortable, pillows and sheets were excellent and I slept very well as a result. This is important when I choose a hotel. I'd stay here again just for the good quality bed. Bathroom was nice, good water pressure and temperature. Loved the Italian tile, and it was absolutely spotless. The sink needs new taps, they are rather worn and grungy, although they were clean. Some concerns, my room was apparently near the building utilities, and there was a vibration in the room when the AC or fan went on. I was on the 6th floor, and my windows looked directly into a solid concrete wall across a narrow alley way. No view of anything at all. The carpet and the wallpaper were very nice, well decorated. The chair was worn and frayed, needs to be replaced, and the small couch was ok. Refrigerator didn't get cold. Overall it was a nice quiet room and I enjoyed the stay.
Negatives: warm refrigerator, room close to building utilities resulted in vibrations in the room, water taps are old and worn, no view at all except for the concrete wall of the building next door.

Negatives: Rooms are very outdated. They haven't been renovated here for a long time. The bathroom was a disaster, plaster was coming off the walls. The office chair in the room was totally worn out and it was also very dark in the room. AC worked well and the location of the hotel is good. However, I would not recommend the hotel, you can certainly book a better hotel for the money.
