The front desk lady was rude during check in and also the following day when we had a question about where to locate coffee. Didn’t like the fact they didn’t have a free breakfast option. Coffee was terrible.

The location is great and they have a nice little pool area. The breakfast is nice. The area for breakfast is pleasant and really nice to hang around in.
Negatives:
The maid tries to skip doing the rooms. Each day I would carefully place the “maid service please” thing on the doorknob. Then I would return later to see it on the floor in the hallway. Our room wouldn’t get any cleaning or maid service unless I requested it by complaining that the maid was slipping our room. So we had to use wet towels and our bed was not being made regularly. We did get maid service after I complained the last day. Once day I even returned twice in the afternoon to check if the maid had come. She had not come.
The pillows in this hotel are 5 years past worn out. They are completely flat.
The bathrooms are not clean.
The toilet in our room didn’t flush.
I made the reservation months in advance and got a noisy room. Kids were running in the hallways, shouting at night and knocking on doors and running away. They pranked our room.
The staff in this hotel are not happy and they do not greet the customers. They look depressed.

Shower pop up valve didn't work leading to a very paltry shower experience. I mentioned this to the staff at checkout;

The room was nice & big. So was the bathroom/shower.

The hot tub jets were not very good. I specifically chose a hotel that had a pool & hot tub. Also not much lighting in the room.

Liked the snack and beverage options. Did not eat the breakfast but it did look really good!

We had a dirty sock and some bottle lids on the floor. Next to no toliet paper as well. It was also really dark with not a lot of lighting but honestly the sock was really bothersome. If a sock is missed what else was all we could think about. Also the bar restaurant was advertised incorrectly. It was not what we expected, much smaller.

The front desk staff was awesome!! Answered lots of questions about what to do locally, told us how easy Uber was in Ames and even told us who would probably be our driver. All around just awesome!!
