Positives: I reserved a room on booking.com on Feb. 22, 2024 and guaranteed it with a credit card.
Negatives: The property did not honor the booking.com reservation. The night before I was to arrive in Baltimore (May 8, 2024), the hotel sent me an email stating that they were overbooked and that they canceled my reservation. There was a large conference in town and all the downtown hotels were at capacity. I was left scrambling when I arrived to find someplace to stay for my conference. I have had similar experiences in other countries where hotels will resell reserved hotel rooms at a higher rate when demand increases but I had not expected it from a Marriott hotel in the USA! When I called the hotel, they told me they had to cancel reservation based on the date of the reservation. This would mean when I booked it in FEBRUARY, it was already overbooked? If this was really the case, why did they wait until the night before to tell me it was overbooked? When I asked if the Marriott could help me find another place to stay, I was told that they don’t do that! DON’T BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL - at least not through Booking.com.
