Positives: My daughter and I were there to visit western Michigan and Kalamazoo colleges, we wanted to walk the downtown area for dinner but did not do that because we didn't feel safe outside of the hotel.

Negatives: When we arrived to our room, the door was open. A key was in the room. There was a leak in the shower. Towels were soaking wet in the shower to keep the drip from being loud. Saturday morning they came to clean our room. We asked to come back since we were still getting ready. They never cleaned our room.

Positives: The amenities and level of security there was great!
Negatives: There was a mix-up at check-in that disrupted our plans for the day. It may have been an honest mistake, but it left us scrambling once we received the correct information the following day. We were originally told that breakfast and checkout were later than they actually were, which caused us to miss breakfast and rush to pack and leave. They offered us some leftover breakfast food which was subpar but we were grateful that they at least were willing to accommodate as much as possible given the mix-up.

Positives: Breakfast was very, very good and plentiful. Room layout was different than the typical ones, which made it feel cozier. Staff was excellent in everything they did! Bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have a TV corner and couch area. Everything was clean and nice to have coffeemaker, microwave and nice sized refrigerator on hand. Closet with hanging space, long mirror and drawers/shelves was convenient and practical in its layout.
Negatives: Lighting was not perfect. Nice to have bedside lights but the overhead light and the tall lamp didn't work in my opinion. One too bright and the other not bright enough, adequate but not balanced. Warmer 3-way light by the TV would be good and an overhead light that is LED soft/daylight would be best. The table at the couch could have been a little larger, and easier to move. Undecided about the "desk" area behind the bed. Two chairs there would make it a decent place to eat, but it was adequate space for holding various things. More hooks needed in the bathroom. Husband wanted to swim on Sunday morning but the pool was closed for cleaning.
