Surprised surprised: I Selected this hotel based on good ratings and reviews and after staying here, I can understand why people have given such positive feedback. I knew I was in a great place once we arrived. The area is nice, clean and safe. Troy is simply beautiful community. I booked a small room for my daughter and I but the host was really friendly and she upgraded us to a bigger suite totally free of charge so we could have friends over. Special thanks to the host for this wonderful gesture. SONESTA SIMPLY SUITES was such a cozy accomodation with a bedroom, kitchenette, living room and bathroom. The apartment was beautifully clean. Everything you need can be found in the suite, beside nice towels and extra pillows and blankets, for example every suite counts with stove, microwave, full size fridge, dishwasher, coffee maker, utensils and even cooking pots to make your own breakfast or meals. We loved the location, close to restaurants, plazas, a shopping center is nearby and it’s only 20 minutes drive from Downtown Detroit. We felt comfortable spending a weekend in this place. I highly recommend this hotel, everything was beyond expectations and we will be back again for sure!

The woman who checked us in should not be in customer service. Computer had to be turned on to check is in which took quite awhile to come on, could not find booking, wanted me to call booking.com, she didn’t quite know how to work the computer. She had to call someone to walk her through the process. Finally found the reservation after quite awhile. Even though we had been waiting for quite awhile, she took other customers in front of us before we were done. Finally got our key. Desk called room twice but the room phone wasn’t working. No linen in room for pull out. We ready ready for bed but they would not bring linen to room we had to go downstairs and get it. The store was wiped out, empty. Room was ok. Smelled musty. Needs to be remodeled but for price was ok for one night.

The property is good value for the money. The room layouts are nice and it comes with a small kitchen which gives it studio kind of look.
Negatives:
Property is not clean and the staff is not friendly. The room was not cleaned before we checked in. The coffee maker was dirty with previous coffee in it. Soap and shampoo bottles were empty. When we asked the reception to fill in the bottles, we were told that it won’t be done before our checkout and we were asked to buy our own toiletries. Never had such an experience with any other properties.
