We got to the motel and no one was at the desk; however there was a sign saying the clerk was helping a guest and would be right back. I sat and watched TV in the lobby for about 15 minutes and no one came. Then I got an email from La Quinta asking me to pre-check in. I went to the site to pre-check in and at the end it required me to confirm that I accepted their policies as listed in the pre-check in form. One of those policies specifically said that they DO NOT accept pets. When I made the reservation on booking.com they were listed as pet friendly (we were traveling with 2 small dogs) so we left and checked into a pet-friendly motel. They then charged me for the room. When I filed a complaint, they said that I just didn't check in. When I explained the situation, they told me that they DO accept pets and I should have spoken to them. When I told them that there was no one to speak to, they basically said "too bad, so sad." They said they were "sorry for the inconvenience" but are refusing to refund the money. We obviously didn't see the rooms, but the lobby was shabby and the vending machine was out of order. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
