Hotel Indigo - Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Negatives: One of the staff in the front desk did not have a pleasant way of explaining things. She was very passive-agressive when we asked for further explanation about the deposit we had to make as warranty. Btw, such deposit was extremely expensive (almost the same as the price per night, for the entire stay!). This was very upsetting since I could not basically use my credit card for the rest of the trip until the deposit was released. Also, must of the floors of the hotel, smell like chemicals from the pool and the second floor (where we where staying), was super noisy due to the bar located in that floor. We had to hear people coming in and out the bar every single night, and we noticed this bar is open to public. Finally, the last night some very noise guests stayed next to our room. It was obvious that were teenagers that rented the room to party. We complained in the front desk three times during the night (and early morning), but they didn’t seem to care neither made any efforts to ask those guest to stop the party they were having at the hotel room. In overall the hotel is pretty and well located, but I will not recommend it for people looking for a good night sleep, or looking for nice or warm attention at the front desk

Negatives: My linen had stains towards to foot area. I only stayed one night, so I didn’t do a thorough check.

Negatives: Maybe a small table on each side of the beds (we had a room with 2 double beds) would be better than just one in the middle, and a more practical coffee machine but these are minor issues.

Negatives: Our beds were really hard n we couldn’t sort out air conditioning / heating

Negatives: What was most frustrating about our stay there was that upon arrival we were told for the first time ever that we have to pay an upfront safety deposit of $200 a night, which was a total of $1000 for our 5 days. There was no notice of this anywhere during the booking process, not even in the hotel policies on Booking.com. I had received an email receipt that everything is paid for and im good to go for my reservation the day before. When I tried to find a middle ground on this I was told that they have it on the official Indigo website when you book, however I would have never seen that as I booked with Booking.com. I tried to explain the situation and that I was completely unaware of this and asked to be shown where exactly it says that, they told me it is in every hotel in New York and that's the situation (as if I am supposed to know that, when visiting from abroad) They did offer to reduce that to $700, but still this was a vast amount of money that I was all of a sudden required to pay on the spot. I was also told I "Shouldnt book from third parties because its cheaper" which makes no sense, if anything maybe you as a hotel shouldn't provide your services through third parties then. It is your duty to ensure your policies are included on third party websites that you use. Value for money was disappointing, feels like you pay for the "vibe" and aesthetics more than the actual stay. Sure the fancy soaps in the bathroom were nice but I expected a little bit more for the price, such as slippers, robes, water in the mini fridge, room service and little considerate things like that. Breakfast was average.

Negatives: bathrooms don't have doors that can lock.

Negatives: The rooms are not well insulated and we could hear everything going on next-door and in the hall- our our neighbors were extremely noisy. Waking us up when they came in at 4 AM. I also think free bottles of the water in the room would be a nice touch
