Positives: The location was good in that it was quite close to New York Times etc. but the street itself is not safe in my opinion - drug addicts on the street etc.
Negatives: Do not expect anything near a Marriott experience from this hotel. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because we had stayed at Marriott hotels and wanted a reliable experience, especially when travelling with young children. -The first room we were given was between 2 lifts and was not clean. The AC was loud. The staff agreed to change the room but instead of a room with 2 double beds (we had booked according to 4 people for 2 double beds) we were given a room with one double bed. Obviously this was not comfortable and wasn't what we had paid for. -Cleaning was mediocre. -The coffee machine didn't work - we called to ask for this to be fixed and were told someone would come - we had to call 4 times and even then it took more than an hour for front staff to arrange for someone to come. The coffee machine had to be taken away to fix. We had also asked for tea bags etc. And again this took chasing and more than an hour -the front staff seemed okay on arrival but if you called reception, either they don't answer the phone or they cut the call pretty fast. They have an attitude where they make it feel clear that they are being inconvenienced by you. We have stayed at many hotels - this was the first where we experienced this behaviour, even smaller hotels have better customer service -there are 2/3 small lifts. There is almost always a rush for the lifts and it takes far too long especially if you are a group. Not worth the inconvenience. - the bathrooms are terrible. Not clean and the door is a sliding one that doesn't close the whole way We had booked to stay for a few nights, but we had such a disappointing experience, we checked out of the hotel after one night. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that they agreed to let us check out after one night and refunded the money from the remaining nights.
