We arrived to a cancelled booking as the card used to secure booking had expired since booking and even though it was booked on a pay at property basis a charge was attempted while we were flying in from London so I didn’t pick up any messages and the hotel just cancelled the booking.

Basic no frills hotel but...
Positives:
The hotel was expensive, but this was New York City, so I wasn't too surprised! Staff were very pleasant and always helpful, and the room was good and comfortable, with efficient wifi. The location was very good - west-side mid-town - for my needs.
Negatives:
Breakfasts were okay but perhaps a little limited. It's a shame that there was no bar or coffee facilities at other times of the day. The coffee-pod machine in the room was fiddly and rather limiting - a kettle would have been so much easier!

The location of the hotel is great. The breakfast was good. The amount of storage in the room and the size of the room was good.
Negatives:
The price of the room. What we paid to what we got was absolutely not worth it. The staff were ok but not overly attentive (the breakfast staff were good).
The elevators badly need replacing or servicing. One of them sounded like it was going to malfunction. One morning just after we went down for breakfast, both elevators malfunctioned with people stuck in them!!!

The hotel is old and stuffy and in need of some much needed upgrades. Room phone didn’t work even after I went to complain as well as the room coffee machine which was only replaced on the last night which was too late.
